Baby Boy Kay

Natalie's Cousin, Baby Boy Kay, was born last night at 10:41 p.m. (CST)! He has a big head of hair, and is healthy and robust - 8 lbs 6.5 oz.

Welcome, Baby Boy Kay! Let's hope your parents choose a name for you soon! We are all so excited to meet you.

Someone's Six Months!

Someone wants a diaper change and it's not Natalie!
Someone likes sweet potatoes and... it's NOT Natalie!

Someone's six months and it *is* Natalie!
What a big milestone - six months old. We're so excited to be the parents of a bright, happy, healthy daughter! During the last two weeks she's really come into her own. She can now roll over both ways and is doing really well at sitting up by herself. I find it very amusing that all the baby books say that when a baby starts to tumble over while sitting up, those sweet baby hands will stop the fall. Not so much with Natalie. She's so sure that Mommy's there for her that she doesn't even THINK to break her fall with her own hands.

She has also finally turned into a grabby little one. Everybody watch out because whatever you have, Natalie wants!

We tried sweet potatoes last weekend. Though she'll eat a few mouthfuls, she just really doesn't seem to like the taste that much. We haven't yet started any other fruits or veggies because Tyler hasn't been home during the evenings (darn that job of his) - and we both want him to be here when she tries new things, as it's so fun. So we're just doing a few bites of sweet potato every night and then lots of rice cereal, which she adores. We'll try something new this weekend, and hopefully she will keep more of it in her mouth than the sweet potato!

Yesterday she had her six month checkup and the doctor was very impressed with her. He said, "if my whole day were filled with babies like Natalie, I would be a happy pediatrician". What higher praise can there be? She is back up to the 90th percentile for height and head circumference, and in the 60th percentile for weight. Tyler still can't figure out from where she got her height. The shots didn't go so well again, but hey, we made it through (with tears again from Natalie and from me).

And that's the six month update!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Reese looks disgruntled. I would be too if I were being held in the air next to a shrieking six-month-old (minus four days).

Now THAT is a smile, Natalie! Way to demonstrate!
Boy do we love bathtime around here.

Guest Appearance #3

Over the weekend, we saw lots of friends. Here is a guest appearance on the Youngs family blog from Saturday! Natalie and I went hiking with our good friends. Natalie really LOVES to look at older kids... She couldn't keep her eyes off of Ella (3 years old). And nobody can make Natalie giggle like Anna can - except maybe Tyler?

Five Months and Four Weeks

Here is a picture of Natalie and Kai - frequent readers of this blog (ARE there any?) will remember that he is sharing our nanny during the week. Hopefully they will become best friends in the future, but right now Natalie is so vocal that she scares Kai repeatedly during the day - and even sometimes wakes him up from naps! Not good.

Natalie is already shopping for her own clothes. She likes this sundress, but because it doesn't come from Baby Gap, I said no.

She loves to roll over in her crib, instead of napping.
The biggest change this week is that we started rice cereal a little early. She is just learning how to eat it, but she enjoys it a lot! In two weeks we will start gradually introducing other solid foods.
The exersaucer, one of her favorite toys.
We just can't believe what a big girl she's becoming!

Another Guest Appearance

Our friends are such good bloggers that I don't even need to post any updates on what we're doing anymore :-)

Here is a post from our friends Kearsley, Todd, and Maya. Back in January we went to the Randall Museum with them, and our friends Sarah and Sophie. Fun was had by all. Natalie's favorite part was our picnic on the grass outside, where she got to show off her rolling skills. Tyler liked the earthquake exhibit, because we got to jump on the ground and see the shock waves recorded on an instrument there in the museum. I loved the animals they have there, which couldn't survive in the wild on their own. They are kept safe in the museum. They have a huge hawk! Reese would love it! Of course they also had a giant display of bees, and another of cockroaches - those I could do without.

Guest Appearance

Check out Natalie's guest appearance on Connor's blog!

And no, the bottle of Magner's wasn't Natalie's, though her dietary intake is changing slightly! More to come on that this weekend.
